Kate

Kate is the founder of KFT. Kate has worked with thousands of students since beginning her tutoring career as an undergraduate at NYU in 2008. A Horace Mann graduate, she holds a Professional Certificate in Learning Differences and Neurodiversity with a Specialization in Executive Function from the Landmark College Institute. Kate previously served as a top-grossing tutor and Director of School Partnerships at an elite NYC firm, and has developed curriculum for major test changes. She sits on the board of the National Test Prep Association and is a lifelong advocate for the Autism community. Kate cares deeply about raising standards in the field through transparent practices, thoughtful training, and collaboration among independent educators. Outside of work, she is a New Yorker raising two young daughters and is happiest with a long walk, a great meal, and a full calendar.
Ally

Ally has been tutoring privately since she was in eighth grade, when her mom would volunteer her services to her younger sister's friends. During college she decided to formalize this experience and began teaching SAT classes in the Raleigh-Durham area. After graduating in 2009, she continued to both teach classes and tutor privately for the SAT and a variety of other subjects and exams, including the ACT, ISEE, SSAT, SHSAT, GRE, and LSAT. In 2012, she began serving as the Director of K-12 Programming at Bell Curves, where she facilitated programming and designed curricula aimed at bringing high-quality test prep to students in underserved communities throughout New York City. Ally has been with Kate Fisher Tutoring since its inception in 2023, and is excited to help the company continue to grow in her role as Director of Operations. She has worked with hundreds of students throughout her career and enjoys helping each one realize that they are capable of finding success, no matter how challenging it may feel. Ally is a cum laude graduate of Duke University (Go Blue Devils!) who currently resides on the Upper West Side of Manhattan.

Ari has 15 years of experience as an academic support and test prep tutor with students ranging from elementary school through college and beyond. He specializes in all levels of math, statistics, computer science, and data analytics, helping students grasp difficult concepts by breaking them down into more easily digestible pieces. A graduate of Brown University (magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa) with degrees in Applied Mathematics and Music, Ari worked as a data scientist, mathematician, and statistician at a research lab at Princeton University. He's patient and encouraging, and adjusts his approach based on how each student learns best.

Ashley graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Yale University with distinction in her two majors, Italian & International Studies. She grew up in New York City and attended Convent of the Sacred Heart School for 13 years, graduating as the Salutatorian. Ashley is fluent in five languages and has studied all the languages that she speaks in their native countries. She blends left and right brain techniques to craft a different approach that is tailored to the need of each student. She loves watching her students surprise themselves and do better than they thought they could.

Her work in education expanded continuously through her time at Tufts University, and she now has over 10 years experience in individualized, tailored instruction. Grace works closely with both students and parents, and pushes her students to do more than they think they can. Her former work with the Metropolitan Opera Guild strengthened her commitment to creative problem solving and critical thinking throughout all of her educational practice. Jackie also spent time studying in Reggio-Emilia and is trained in Learning without Tears, Orton-Gillingham, Sounds in Motion and Singapore Math. Jackie has helped prepare children for top schools across Manhattan. Using both familiar and unfamiliar "games," Jackie makes learning necessary skills fun for her students.

Jason is a test preparation expert whose career grew out of a personal recognition that his strengths lay in teaching, analytical thinking, and academic strategy. After earning a degree in Computer Science from the Rochester Institute of Technology, Jason pivoted toward test preparation, where his ability to break down complex ideas and communicate them clearly proved to be a natural fit. In his five years at Bell Curves, he helped students across a wide range of abilities achieve consistent and meaningful score improvements. In 2012, Jason relocated to Beijing where he worked with the highest achieving students in China, with all of his students going on to gain admission at top 20 US universities and colleges.

Jonathan is a neurologist and clinical neurophysiologist in New York City. He graduated with a Summa Cum Laude Bachelor of Science in Neural Science from NYU's College of Arts and Science, and an Accelerated 3-Year MD from NYU's School of Medicine. He views science and math as sophisticated languages for distilling the simple from the complex, and loves sharing his excitement for these fields. He believes that the successful academic path is paved by placing the focus on understanding, not memorization, and removing any obstacles that impede the measurement of understanding. As a yoga teacher, Jonathan includes mindfulness practices in sessions to improve student resilience, outlook, and performance.

She views herself as a guide and partner, working alongside children to problem-solve and build understanding together. Her sessions are highly individualized, with a focus on the areas where each child needs the most support. Her hope is that children look forward to her visits and hardly realize how hard they are working.

She loves finding the unique path to inspire each student she works with. Though fluent in French after 11 years in a French-immersion school in San Francisco, Tessa started late as a second grader and had to work hard to catch up, an experience that gave her deep compassion for students who struggle with the fear of not knowing. She went on to become valedictorian of both her middle school and high school, earned her IB diploma, and graduated from UC Berkeley. Tessa specializes in helping adolescents develop their writing voice and craft compelling essays for high school, college, and graduate school admissions.
