Work With Us

We're hiring experienced tutors

Kate Fisher Tutoring is a boutique test-preparation practice working one-on-one with New York families on ISEE, SSAT, SAT, and ACT preparation. We're looking for tutors for in-person work in Manhattan and Brooklyn.

We are small on purpose. Every family is matched to a tutor chosen specifically for them, and we take on only as many students as we can serve properly. That's the whole model, and it shapes everything about what it's like to work here.

Compensation

Our tutors are generously compensated.

We pay better than nearly every other practice in New York. We'll share the specifics on our first call.

The work

You'll work one-on-one with students preparing for the ISEE, SSAT, SAT, or ACT — usually in the family's home or a quiet space nearby.

You'll build each student's plan from their diagnostic, adjust it as their scores move, and write brief notes after each session so the family always knows where things stand. Hours are flexible and concentrated on weekday evenings and weekends.

This is a contract role, and you're free to keep other work.

What we're looking for

  • At least two years of paid, one-on-one tutoring experience
  • Real command of at least one of the ISEE, SSAT, SAT, or ACT
  • A bachelor's degree, or current enrollment in good standing
  • Genuine availability for in-person sessions in Manhattan and/or Brooklyn, including evenings and weekends
  • Two to three references who have seen you teach
  • The professionalism to be the person a family trusts with something they care about a great deal

Experience with NYC independent school admissions, with the ISEE specifically, or with students who test with accommodations is a real advantage.

Why our tutors stay

We match carefully, so you're working with students you're genuinely right for. We handle the scheduling and the administration so you can concentrate on teaching. And we don't ask anyone to take on more students than they can do well by.

It's a small practice, and it's run like one — you'll always be able to reach Kate directly.
